Visa exemption for Malaysia Nationals?
From 1st July 2013, the Government of Japan has decided to abolish the requirement of short-term visa for Malaysian Nationals who hold ordinary biometric passports with embedded microchip that is compliant with ICAO standards(issued since February 2010) who wish to enter Japan for short-term stay.

Visa for Malaysian Nationals without ordinary biometric passport compliant with ICAO standard?
Malaysia nationals living in Malaysia who do not hold ordinary biometric passport with embedded microchip that is compliant with ICAO standards remain advised to obtain a visa to entry into Japan.

Multiple Entry Visa for Malaysian Nationals?
From 01st September 2012, the Japanese Government will issue the Multiple Entry Visa for Malaysian nationals living in Malaysia who want to go to Japan for sightseeing, visiting relatives and other purposes. The Multiple Entry Visa is valid for a maximum of three (3) years and the length of each stay in Japan is limited to fifteen (15) days in principle. However, the length of each stay in Japan may be extended to 30 days or 90 days subject to the consideration and approval by the Embassy/Consulate-General/Consular Office of Japan.
